The ultimate truth: What YOU need to know about the Panasonic VIERA X1 Series TC-L26X1

By

Or, why do I want a 720p bedroom TV when I can get a 1080p bedroom TV? In my bedroom I used to have a big fat bulk of a Wide screen CRT. Now I wanted a HDTV to replace my 6 year oldie. In honest truth it’s still sufficient when I’m playing Street Fighter 3 but who does that lying down anyway? It is supposed to be a bedroom TV. In comes the VIERA, and it fits nicely on a table near the foot of my bed.

When I first start up the set it detects the channels in a breeze. Setup is not an issue as far as I’m concerned, and I’m very technically challenged. Especially when it comes to reading manuals. I just HATE manuals. (Maybe I get stuck at things because I don’t read them? Never mind.) The remote is nice. Not as heavy as I wanted it to but then again they never are. My TV is up and running in about 5-10 minutes. The picture is sharp and fine and dandy and nothing to complain about.

Stuff to be aware of: As some reviewers on Amazon have pointed out it can have some problem with the viewing angle. If that’s the case you should return your TV since it shouldn’t behave in that manner. Remember that you can always use the “restore to default” button if things screw up in a bad way and you cannot remember what you did to it. You do still have your warranty, so another not to forget option is that you can contact Panasonic and get things sorted out.

It has a nice iPod docking feature. The dock itself comes with a cord that you plug in to the back of the TV where it says dock for iPod. I think that maybe the interface could have been nicer but it's practical and works so I'm not complaining. What I do complain about is the fact that it is black and I can see all the dust on it, but that's what you get if you like black like me. It doesn't matter if I wipe it every day it seems.

To tell you the truth I don't use the iPod functions very much since I usually connect it to my computer which is in another room but it's still nice to have. So, why do I want a 720p TV instead of a 1080p TV? In this case it comes with a very moderate price tag for what you actually get. For instance great picture quality. I sometimes connect it to my netbook while in bed. With sucky resolution due to sucky netbook so it doesn't matter to me when I just want to surf the net.

Where to get the Panasonic VIERA X1 Series TC-L26X1

Just go to Amazon.com it comes with free shipping and it's only $299.99, This can probably change in a flash so you better hurry. I always go down to my local store and look at TV sets and then I just buy them on the net because it's cheaper. Probably a bad thing to do considering the environment and all but I'm not made of money so what the heck. At Amazon you can also read lots of other reviews before making a choice.
